Bogner to promote Munich 2018 at EOC General Assembly
November 26 - Willy Bogner (pictured), the new chairman of Munich's bid to host the 2018 Winter Olympics, will make his first international appearance tomorrow when he travels to the European Olympic Committee (EOC) General Assembly in Lisbon.
Bogner, a former world-class skier who is now a successful businessman, plans to promote the German city's proposal to become the first place to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
He said: "I am delighted to be attending the EOC General Assembly because of the many opportunities it offers - the opportunity to introduce ourselves to members of the European Olympic family; the opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with old friends; and the opportunity to begin new friendships.
"We are going to Lisbon to listen carefully to our potential partners and to learn more about the expectations of the EOC members."
Munich, which is bidding against Annecy and Pyeongchang, is steadily building its in-house team of executives and experts as the campaign moves towards its first big milestone - the submission of a detailed response to the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Questionnaire for Applicant Cities, which is due to be delivered on March 15, 2010.
The IOC are due to pick which city will host the 2018 Olympics at its Session in Durban on July 6, 2011.
