The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) have warned that they must review the decision first by the JAAA before they will confirm that she will not be banned. 

Campbell-Brown, winner of the Olympic 200 metres at the Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, as well as being a member of Jamaica's 4x100m relay team that won in the Greek capital, was provisionally suspended in June after she failed a test for a banned diuretic at an event in May and faced a JAAA three-member disciplinary panel last month.

They have now ruled that "a reprimand without any period of ineligibility would be appropriate" for the 32-year-old from Trelawny, who also won a bronze medal in the 100m at London 2012.

But the IAAF are refusing to back the decision without seeing the full written judgement.

"Despite reports in the media today, this process is far from being over," a spokesman for the IAAF told insidethegames.

"With any international level athlete an IAAF Member Federation disciplinary panel can only make a recommendation which then is referred to the IAAF Doping Review Board for its decision.

"In the case of Veronica Campbell-Brown the IAAF has not yet received the full file from JAAA, and only then can we review the decision in accordance with IAAF Rules.

"Until such time we will make no further comment on the case."

Campbell-Brown had tested positive for the banned diuretic hydrochlorothiazide, which is on the World Anti-Doping Agency's banned list as a masking agent.

Sources close to Jamaican athletics said at the time the banned drug was contained in a cream that Campbell-Brown was using to treat a leg injury and which she had declared on her doping control form.
