Peace and_Sport_logo_Oct_28October 28 – The organisers of the Abu Dhabi Corporate Games 2012 have announced their chosen charity partner is Peace and Sport, an organisation devoted to using sport as a means of promoting peace in countries suffering from war, poverty and conflict.

As part of the partnership, a series of initiatives and activities will be held to raise awareness of and increase donations to the charity.

These include a request to Games participants to donate unused sporting equipment or clothing which will then be used in disadvantaged communities where Peace and Sport operate.

There will also be a free interactive workshop that both participants and the general public can attend.

In 2013, a gala dinner, organised by Abu Dhabi Corporate Games 2012, will include a charity auction, where sporting items signed by international sporting celebrities will be sold to raise funds for the charity.

A well-known sportsperson will attend the event as a Champion for Peace, and a Peace and Sport Sportsmanship Award will be presented to the company voted to have displayed the best attitude and sportsmanship over the Games weekend.

Founder and President of Peace and Sport, Joël Bouzou, also a pentathlon Olympic medallist, said: "Peace and Sport welcomes being the official charity of the Abu Dhabi Corporate Games 2012.

"Through this partnership, we hope to strengthen the links between our mission and movement with local businesses and international corporations, in this region."

"Their growing support, of course, can only help us promote the concept of peace through sport, on a more globally recognised scale."

This year's Corporate Games, the world's largest multi-sport festivals for businesses and organisations, will run from November 21 to 24 at venues across Abu Dhabi including Zayed Sports City, Zayed University, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and Al Forsan International Sports Resort.
