July 29 - Nigeria is to receive help from South Korea in preparing for the taekwondo competition in London 2012, it has been revealed.

 

 

Experts from South Korea will work in collaboration with the National Sports Commission (NSC), the body that oversees sport in Nigeria.

 

 

The deal was signed between Jeon Sun Suh, South Korea's cultural attache in Abuja, and Nigeria's Sports Minister Sani Ndanusa.

 

It is part of South Korea's policy to try to help develop sport in Africa.

 

Suh claimed that the bronze medal won by 25-year-old Chika Chukwumerije in the 80kg category at last year's taekwondo tournament in the Olympics in Beijing demonstrated  the depth of potential talent in Nigeria.

 

Patrick Ekeji, the Director of General of the NSC, who received the delegation on behalf of the Minister of Sports commended the Korea government for their interest in choosing Nigeria as one of the countries to be developed through sports
