EuroLeague have confirmed that a minute's silence to remember Baumann will be held at matches in the competition and EuroCup matches this week.

EuroLeague and FIBA had clashed in recent months in a row which divided the sport but that has all been put into perspective by the sudden death of the influential Swiss official.

"I am saddened by the news of Patrick passing away at such a young age," Euroleague Basketball President and chief executive Jordi Bertomeu said. 

"He dedicated his entire life to the sport he loved, basketball, and had a tremendously successful professional career at all levels. 

"He even transcended the sport of basketball and became a fundamental piece in the Olympic Movement."
