February 4 - Jim Sellar (pictured) has said that he will retire from international curling if Britain's wheelchair team win the gold medal at the Paralympics in Vancouver next month.

Sellar was unlucky to miss out on the team four years ago when they won the silver medals but has been included in the team for Canada, where Britain are among the favourites for the title.

Sellar, who is also a national-level bowler, took up curling nine years ago and has gone on to represent Scotland at five World Championships, including the gold medal-winning team in 2004 and the bronze medal-winning team in 2007.

But this is the first Paralympics for the 53-year-old from Mossend.

He said: "I wasn't selected for the team who went to Turin and they won silver medals, so I'm hopeful we can go one better this time.

"This is the result of a lot of hard work and training."
