April 9 - American television network giant NBC, which is available in an estimated 112 million households, are set to broadcast a 90 minute highlights show on the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games tomorrow.



The highlights show - which will be shown between 3.30-5.00pm Eastern Time,  will feature athlete interviews and competition footage from the Games including the United States gold medal winning sled hockey performance.

Another key character in the broadcast will be United States Paralympian alpine skier Alana Nichols.

Nichols picked up four medals at the Games, two of which were gold, to become the first female US Paralympian to win a gold medal in both the Summer and Winter Paralympics following her triumph in the US women’s wheelchair basketball team at the Beijing 2008 Games.   

Throughout the 2010 Winter Paralympics, Olympic broadcaster NBC Sports, along with Universal Sports, provided extensive coverage of the Games.

NBC Sports, in conjunction with GE. Coverage, provided a one hour programme for viewers recapping the Opening Ceremony while Universal Sports broadcast a nightly two-hour show for nine straight nights dedicated to the daily competition of the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

Gary Zenkel, the President of NBC Olympics, claimed he was proud that his organisation has helped to promote Paralympic sport through its coverage of the Games.

Zenkel said: "The extensive coverage on NBC Sports and Universal Sports helps to raise the awareness of the Paralympics by telling the stories of these remarkable athletes and demonstrates NBC Universal’s commitment to the Olympic Movement in the United States."

Scott Blackmun, the chief executive of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), said: "We are thrilled that fans of Team USA were be able to stay connected to all the action in Vancouver and follow the accomplishments of Paralympians throughout the world."
