June 13 - Britain’s hand-cyclists put on a stunning display at the World Cup event in Segovia, Spain, as they picked up eight medals, six of which were gold, including two each for David Stone and Rachel Morris (pictured).

The Beijing Paralympic gold medallists were joined on top of the podium by Rik Waddon while the tandem pairing of Lora Turnham and Bex Rimmington were also victorious.

Morris was perhaps the star for Briton and, as well as her  two victories in the road race and time trial in the hand cycling events, the 31-year-old claimed a bronze in the relay event alongside Rob Wickham and Chris Morris.

The event was the first chance for cyclists to earn qualification points towards the 2012 London Paralympics.

It was also an opportunity to get in some much needed practice ahead of the World Road Championships in Canada in August and performance manager Gareth Sheppard admitted that he was delighted with how well the team performed.

Sheppard said: "This event has given us some of our best results on the road and there were some fantastic displays from the team.

"There were some surprise medals that we didn’t expect to pick up here and to win four golds in Sunday’s time trial races was beyond our expectations.

"It sets the team up very well for the World Championships in Canada later this year and looking ahead to London 2012."
