June 17 - Deloitte have presented ParalympicsGB with a cheque for the money raised so far from Deloitte Ride Across Britain which stands at £261,664.79 (4387,865.82).



The 1,000 mile bicycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats, which takes place over a gruelling nine days, is currently in progress and with 600 riders being led by rowing Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell.

The cheque was presented by to ParalympicsGB by Cracknell while Deloitte aim to raise £1 million ($1.4 million) for the organisation through the event over the next four years.

ParalympicsGB chief executive Phil Lane admitted that he was delighted with the sum of money raised by the Deloitte Ride Across Britain and had words of encouragement for the riders.

Lane said: "It is absolutely fantastic that so much money has already been raised by the Deloitte Ride Across Britain.

"We are grateful to Deloitte for all of their support and I’d also like to thank Threshold Sports for putting on such a great event.

"I want to thank the riders for all of their hard work.

"I know the ride is not yet over and there are still several days to go so I want to wish them the best of luck."

Among the 600 riders are Paralympic gold medallists Sarah Storey and Jody Cundy as well as Olympic gold medallists Cracknell and Rebecca Romero.
