June 21 - The chances of Paul McCartney's former wife Heather Mills (pictured) competing in the Paralympics at Sochi in 2014 look slim even though she claimed she is training for the event.

The former lingerie model, who lost her left leg after being knocked down by a police motorcycle in 1993, will be 46 by the time the Games come round and has no record of taking part in the sport competitively.

But she told the Daily Express earlier this week that she set herself the target of competing in Sochi after participating in a charity event for Disability Snowsport UK.

"Out of all the able-bodied people there, I was the fastest skier and the team I was on came second," she said.

Mills claims that the seed of the idea of competing in the Paralympics had first been planted by British Cycling who had asked her to join their squad for London 2012.

British Cycling refused to comment on her claims when contacted by insideworldparasport.

But Mills, who has been accused on several occasions in the past of embellishing her life story, claimed that her "times were good, but I got very bored being on my bike every morning".

She told the Daily Express: “Having loved sport my whole life, competing in a Paralympics would be a dream come true."

Mills, who got divorced from former Beatle McCartney in 2008 and was awarded £24.3 million (£35.7 million) as a settlement, has been a keen skier for several years having previously lived with her ski instructor Milos Pogacar in Croatia.

But ParalympicsGB claimed that it will stake a huge amount of dedication and sacrifice to represent Britain in Sochi.

A spokesperson from ParalympicsGB told insideworldparasport: "We are aware that Heather Mills participated in a charity event for Disability Snowsport UK but she is not currently training with the GB team.

"To make the ParalympicsGB team takes grit, determination and a tremendous amount of hard work and training, and there is a long journey ahead of any person who wishes to compete on the world stage."
