June 26 - Anthony Booth (pictured), a British Paralympian whose artificial legs were stolen, was given a specially-made new pair so he could walk his sister down at the aisle at her wedding today.

The father-of-three's car, containing his original false legs and his wheelchair, was stolen from outside his Manchester home earlier this month.

The 33-year-old, who represented Britain in the ice sledge hockey at the Winter Paralympics in Nagano in 1998, had been practising walking on the limbs for four months in order to give his sister away on her wedding day after their father died 12 years ago.

But thieves looked to have crushed his dreams when they stole the car and his legs just two weeks before the big day.

But the special moment was saved when Seacroft Hospital in Leeds contacted Booth to tell him they could make him new limbs in time for the ceremony.

Booth said: “It's brilliant - I can't believe it.

"It's completely made the day.

"I can't put it into words how it felt.

"A few days ago I'd given up hope and then someone came to my rescue.

"I can't thank the people at Leeds hospital enough."

His sister Angela said: “I just couldn't believe it when he walked in.

"It absolutely made the day.

"This is all he ever wanted - I'm so proud of him."
