July 8 - International Paralympic Committee (IPC) officials who attended the sixth International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission to monitor the progress being made on the London 2012 Games expressed their satisfaction which how preparations are going for the Paralympics.

IPC chief executive Xavier Gonzalez and Paralympic Games senior manager Thanos Kostopoulos were in attendance for the visit to London as was IPC Governing Board member Patrick Jarvis who is on the IOC Coordination Commission for the Games as the IPC representative.

During the visit London 2012 officials presented updates on issues such as integrated operational planning, transport and the timelines for Paralympic accommodation.

Brand and marketing topics regarding a Paralympic campaign plan were discussed while feedback from the public on official London 2012 Paralympic mascot Mandeville, who was launched in May, was presented along with details of his upcoming journey.

Jarvis claimed he was impressed with what he heard from London 2012 organisers.

He said: "We had very productive meetings and are generally pleased with the progress in several areas.

"With Sainsbury’s as an exclusive Paralympic sponsor for example, LOCOG has had significant development around the Paralympic Games.

"Although numerous Games-related technical challenges still need to be addressed, I have complete faith that these and other issues will be navigated by the Organising Committee in collaboration with the IPC, promising a most spectacular Paralympic Games in 2012."

Gonzalez added: "Seeing many of the venues, construction and plans, a great deal of progress has been achieved and the IPC looks forward to the continued efforts of the London 2012 Organising Committee in making the next Summer Games a success."

The next IOC Coordination Commission in London will take place in November this year.
