July 13 - The swimming competition at the London 2012 Paralympics, which is expected to feature the likes of Dave Roberts and Ellie Simmonds, will be the longest-ever, lasting ten days, it was announced today. 


The decision was announced as the  International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming has completed its first inspection visit to the London 2012 Aquatics Centre.

Led by IPC Swimming technical delegate Susan Prasad and IPC Swimming sport manager Agnes Szilak, the delegation were shown around by the London 2012 swimming competition manager Charlotte O'Neill and aquatics services manager Catherine Castell.

During the two days of inspection, the team discussed the venue plan, accreditation and entry deadlines, the online entry system, competition details and competition management.

Qualification for London 2012 will begin on 15 August 2010, the first day of the 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships in Eindhoven.

Representatives from London 2012 will be in Eindhoven for the event, as well as for the IPC Swimming Forum on August 21, where they will be presenting to participating delegates.
