July 18 - Australia's wheelchair basketball players were today celebrating adding the world title to their Olympic gold medal as they began looking forward to the London 2012 Paralympics.

The Rollers, as they are nicknamed, beat France 79-69 in the final at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham yesterday.

Brett Stibners, who had six points, six assists and seven rebounds in the final, summed up the mood.

He said: "The boys are over the moon as today the Rollers have made history.

"All 19 [players and coaching staff] did their job and we have backed the Beijing gold with our first World Championship win for the Rollers.

"Everyone is very content with the effort and we delivered on our expectations."

Team-mate Michael Hartnett added "We wanted to dedicate the win to all of the Rollers who have gone before us and laid the foundations for this great programme."
