July 23 - Sweden’s Jonas Jacobsson today claimed his second gold medal of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Shooting World Championships in Zagreb.



Jacobsson won the 50 metre rifle prone which follows his victory on Tuesday (July 20)  in the men’s 50m Rifle 3x40.

The 44-year-old, who has competed in every Paralympics since 1980 and won a record 27 medals, including 16 gold, claimed won the 50m Rifle Prone with a stunning result of 696.2 points to finish well ahead of Australia’s Ashley Phillip Adams and South Korea’s Jaeyong Sim in second and third respectively.

In fourth and fifth place were Germany’s Natascha Hiltrop and the United States Danielle Fong.

The World Championships, which draw to a conclusion tomorrow, have been a huge success for Croatia and are the first World Championships in a sport for athletes with a disability to be held in the country.

The event also had a special visit from the British Ambassador in Croatia, David Graeme Blunt, who was able to watch the precision and accuracy of the Paralympic Sport at its highest level.
