July 29 - Ade Adepitan, a key member of Britain’s wheelchair basketball team that claimed bronze at the Athens 2004 Paralympics, has not ruled out competing at the London 2012 Paralympics in wheelchair tennis despite being due to play a leading role in Channel 4’s coverage of the Games.

Channel 4 hosted a special reception at their headquarters in London last week where they revealed details of their plans to cover the London 2012 Paralympics and announced Adepitan as the face of their coverage for the Games.

The coverage includes a new weekly magazine programme - "The Paralympic Show" - presented by Adepitan and Rick Edwards and a 90 minute feature documentary called "Inside Incredible Athletes" in the build up to London 2012.

Adepitan is also set to be one of the leading Channel 4 presenters during the Games.

But Adepitan, who switched from wheelchair basketball to wheelchair tennis in 2007, has claimed that there is still a possibility he will compete in London 2012 as an athlete.

He regarded as an outside bet to qualify for London 2012 in wheelchair tennis having so far failed to hit the heights in the sport that he did in wheelchair basketball.

Adepitan said: "I am just taking each week as it comes and I am not thinking about competing at London 2012 too much until the time arrives.

"I’ll just play each game, try and do my best in each game and work hard in every training session.

"Even though its only two years away, London 2012 is still a long way to be thinking ahead from an athletes perspective.

"It sounds like a bit of a cliché but I think you just need to take each game one at a time."

Adepitan added that he was delighted to be chosen to be the face of Channel 4’s coverage for the Paralympic Games and believes that the station will help change perceptions of disabled people in Britain.

He said: "It truly is fantastic [to be the face of Channel 4 for the London 2012 Paralympics] and it’s very exciting.

"I think with Channel 4 winning the right to cover the Paralympics, it is a real step change and it’s going to change the way that people see the Paralympics just because of the fact that Channel 4 will be the sole broadcasters to cover the Games.

"Channel 4’s coverage will not be something that is simply a follow on from the Olympics; it will be all about us and all about the Paralympics so I definitely feel honoured to be part of that and to be part of this historic moment."
