August 5 - A new documentary called Warrior Champions, which follows four soldiers injured during the war in Iraq as they prepare to compete in the Paralympics, has been launched in the United States.

From Baghdad to Beijing is currently travelling around the US and earning rave reviews wherever it is shown.

The film follows the fortunes of Melissa Stockwell, Scott Winkler, Kortney Clemons and Carlos Leon, disabled veterans injured serving their country who bounced back to compete in Beijing.

The film is made by Brent and Craig Renaud, the first filmmakers in history to follow a unit at war through its entire deployment.

They followed the 39th Battalion from Arkansas into Iraq.

They told the story of the soldiers involved, the losses incurred, and the tragedies and triumphs in a documentary broadcast on the Discovery Channel.

In the process of telling that story they got to know several disabled vets, and it was this growing segment of the military that became their latest project.

It has been described as a movie of triumph, focus, dedication and persistence.

Stockwell, who lost her leg in the spring of 2004, three weeks after being deployed when her Humvee was hit by roadside bomb in Baghdad.

The first lieutenant was the first woman soldier to lose a limb in Iraq but qualified to represent the US as a swimmer in three events in Beijing, where she carried the flag in the Opening Ceremony.

She also later travelled to the White House to meet President George W. Bush (pictured).

"For other disabled veterans - or not even veterans, just the disabled community - there is so much out there, and so many opportunities out there, and just to take them and kind of don't let anything stop you," said Stockwell.

Warrior Champions is available on DVD.
