August 20 - British cyclists Sarah Storey (pictured) and David Stone were in fantastic form at the Para-Cycling Road World Championships today as the pair both picked up gold medals in their categories in Baie-Comeau, Canada.

Storey was first up in the C5 Women's Time Trial which is made up of a grueling 22.8 kilometres.

Storey was the last rider off in the new C5 women’s class with the seven-time Paralympic gold medalist chasing her 13th world title in swimming and cycling.

At the first time check, Storey five seconds down on the rapidly improving Anna Harkowska from Poland but as she reached the half way mark, the gap had been overturned so that she was 11 seconds up on the Polish rider.

Storey continued to extend this lead and finished with an excellent time of 33min 36sec with her nearest competitor over a minute behind.

Storey said: "I’m really pleased to have won the time trial at the Paracycling Worlds for the second year running.

"I wanted to pace my ride really well and finish strong.

"The girls in my class are improving all the time and when Harkowska was five seconds up at the first time check I didn’t panic and rode at my pace.

"It was a really good course, with a good section of climbs, with the downhill today slightly tougher with the headwind."

Stone (pictured) followed his compatriot to gold with victory in the men’s T2 men's time trial.

Stone dominated the 11.4km course and finished seconds ahead of second placed Giorgio Farroni of Italy.

He said: "I was quite nervous before the start of that race which made me focus on the ride and try and beat my competitors.

"I managed to catch my minute man over the final climb which was good, but then he was sat on my wheel and trying to come round me, which made things harder for me into the final corners."
