August 27 - BT, the official communications services partner of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, has revealed a series of idents to be aired during Channel 4’s Paralympic programming this weekend that feature South African sprint star Oscar Pistorius.

The "Blade Runner", one of the most high profile BT Ambassadors, is the T44 world record holder in the 100, 200 and 400 metre events and has four Paralympic gold medals.

Pistorius has also competes able-bodied events, and is aiming to compete in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games at London in 2012.

The BT idents, directed by Stuart Rideout, follow Pistorius running against a backdrop of iconic London landmarks such as Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Plotting the athlete’s journey to 2012, the film focuses on Pistorius’ strength and power as an athlete as he runs across the city.

Pistorius said: "I’m delighted to be able to play my part in raising awareness of the Paralympic Games in 2012, and encouraging people to change the way they view disability sport.

"I’m really excited to think that in just two years’ time, the world’s best Paralympic athletes will be arriving here to compete in front of a worldwide audience of billions."

Suzi Williams, BT Group marketing and brand director, said: "With just two years to go until the start of the Paralympic Games, we wanted our idents to showcase the incredible abilities of one of the world’s best Paralympic athletes.

"We think London 2012 will be a watershed moment that will change attitudes towards - and perceptions of - disability sport.

"Using Oscar to support our sponsorship of Channel 4’s programming in the build up to the Games will help to demonstrate the awesome inspirational power of these incredible athletes."

The idents will be shown during the ad breaks on Channel 4 during "That Paralympic Show" tomorrow at 1.25pm, "Inside Incredible Athletes" on Sunday (August 29) at 9pm and during the highlights from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming World Championships in Eindhoven on Monday (August 30) at 11.50am.
