September 28 - Tickets will go on sale for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics World Championships in Christchurch on Friday (October 1).

It follows the city being given the all-clear to host the Championships following the massive earthquake which hit it earlier this month.

New Zealand's second-largest city was struck by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake on September 4 and has experienced a large number of aftershocks since, which have caused significant damage to buildings and infrastructure.

The IPC said engineers had carried out an inspection of the 14,000-capacity Queen Elizabeth II stadium, which will host the Championships from January 21 until January 30.

Around 1,200 athletes and about 900 officials are expected to attend this event, which is the last major athletics event to be held before the London 2012 Paralympics.

Event passes and single day tickets will be available when they go on sale.
