September 29 - Erin Popovich, the 14-time Paralympic gold medallist who has announced her retirement, has been appointed as an athlete representative on the USA Swimming Board of Directors.



Popovich, who was born with achondroplasia, a genetic disorder that restricts the growth of a person's limbs, won a total of 19 medals in her three appearances in the Games, including claiming seven golds in all the events that she competed in at Athens in 2004.

This year, she joined Patrick Dideum and Megan Ryther as athlete representatives on the USA Swimming Board of Directors.
