October 29 - United States Paralympics, a division of the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), has invited educational speakers and leaders to submit education session proposals for the fourth annual Paralympic Leadership Conference next summer.

The 2011 event, which is due to take place from April 29-May 2 at the United States Olympic/Paralympic Training Centre in Colorado Springs, is focused on providing the tools and inspiration to implement and support community-based Paralympic sport programmes across the country.

A statement from the organisations says: "US Paralympics is seeking engaging speakers and leaders to share their knowledge, expertise and best practice techniques related to Paralympic sport.

"The suggested session topics include: leadership and communication, sport/coaching (classroom technical, introductory sport experience or hands-on sport coaching), military programs (collaboration, community connection, VA or WTU related issues), disability specific, program management (funding, strategic planning, events, marketing), research/sport science, equipment and technology and children and youth programs (recruitment, retention, best practices)."

The Congress is set to be attended by some of the leading Paralympic sport figures from across the United States, including Charlie Huebner who is current chief of Paralympics at the United States Olympic Committee.
