Sir_Philip_Craven_head_and_shoulders_close_upNovember 16 - International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President Sir Philip Craven will be heading to London tomorrow to take part in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission's visit of the capital to receive an update on the progress of the 2012 Games.


The IPC President, a former Great Britain wheelchair basketball player as well as one of Britain's four IOC members, will join Coordination Commission chairman Denis Oswald and IOC Executive Director Gilbert Felli in meeting with senior official including London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe and Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) chairman John Armitt.

Sir Philip will be one of several IPC members in attendance for the two-day visit with Patrick Jarvis, the IPC representative on the IOC Coordination Commission for London, also present along with IPC chief executive Xavier Gonzalez and IPC Paralympic Games Senior Manager Thanos Kostopoulos.

The visit will last until Friday (November 19) with a Paralympic Games Working Group, headed by Jarvis, set to meet on Thursday (November 18) to discuss topics including sport, marketing, communication and broadcast.

It will be the seventh IOC Coordination Commission visit to London 2012.

The IOC Coordination Commission reviews the progress of the Organising Committees on a regular basis and includes also a Paralympic working group and Paralympic topics.
