Heather_Mills_in_black_dress_May_2010December 18 - A poll conducted by talkSPORT radio suggests that support for Heather Mills on her dream of representing the British disabled ski team at the Sochi 2014 Winter Paralympic Games is very much divided.

Mills, the former wife of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney, has been offered a place on the adult development squad of the British Disabled Ski Team for a trial period with a view to competing at the Paralympics.

However, the talkSPORT poll titled: "Would you cheer her on if she represented the British team?" shows mixed results.

Exactly 48 per cent of voters said that they would cheer for the 42-year-old charity campaigner and former model while 52 per cent stated that they would not.

Mills, who lost part of her left leg when she was hit by a police motorcycle in 1993, met McCartney at a Pride of Britain charity event and they got married on June 11, 2002.

Mills gave birth to Beatrice Milly McCartney in October 2003 but the public turned against her when she separated from McCartney in 2006 in highly publicised divorce case where she was awarded £24.3 million in a court settlement on March 17, 2008.

The talkSPORT poll states: "Heather Mills has been offered a place in the development squad of the British disabled ski team for a trial period with a view to being selected for the GB team for the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.

"Whilst her efforts to make the team should be applauded, the ex-wife of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney has not always been the most popular person with the British public."

David Chugg, team manager of the British Disability Ski Team (BDST), told insideworldparasport that Mills has already "demonstrated that she responds well to coaching and is capable of adapting her skiing in response to coaching direction."

Mills has already displayed her talent in winter sport when she competed in hit television show Dancing on Ice last year.

She said she participated in order to support charities she frequently donates to and to show that disabled people can do more than people think.
