Paralympics_Irealdn_with_Alexis_ScaferFebruary 4 - Alexis Schafer, the Marketing and Broadcasting Senior Manager of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), was on hand at the first in series of network events in Ireland in the build up to London 2012 and urged the partners of Paralympic Ireland to combine their efforts and ideas over the coming months to drive the awareness of disability Sport in the country.

More than 25 representatives from Paralympics Ireland's partner network attended the inaugural event which aims to bring the new partners of Paralympic Sport in Ireland together to outline a range of potential activation initiatives.

Providing examples of a range of partner activation campaigns from around the globe, the session concluded with a lively discussion on the best way forward for the partner network to grasp the major opportunity the close proximity of Ireland to the London 2012 Games presents.

Schafer said: "It was great to see the range of partners that Paralympics Ireland has recruited in the last twelve months clearly determined to work together to promote and support the development of Paralympic Sport in Ireland.

"The proximity of the partners in a small country lends itself to greater cooperation and synergies between the partners.

"What was clear to me was the energy and determination surrounding Paralympics Ireland and the ambition of the organisation to grow and succeed in the coming years."

In addition to Schafer, other speakers at the event included vice president of Paralympics Ireland Liam Moggan, chief executive of Paralympics Ireland Liam Harbison, managing dDirector of Pembroke Communications Michael O'Keeffe and marketing director of Allianz Ireland Damian O'Neill.
