Press_Association_logoMay 10 - The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has appointed the Press Association as the Host National Agency for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The move follows the organisation being appointed as the Host National Agency for the Olympics by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in February last year and the will see them provide coverage of the Paralympic Games for the British media with a team of journalists working across all 20 London 2012 Paralympic Games sporting disciplines.

IPC chief executive Xavier Gonzalez said: "The Press Association has a strong track record of delivering excellent content from its extensive network of reporters to regional and national media across the UK.

"In Beijing in 2008, they set new records for the scale of content produced at a Paralympic Games and I expect them to go many steps further now that they are the Host National Agency for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

"We look forward to working with them on the Games which, we hope, will generate more media coverage than any before for Paralympic Sport in the UK and around the world."

The Press Association will provide coverage to national and regional media including distribution to over 400 local news websites, as well as to its extensive corporate client base.

They will also work closely with the IPC, ParalympicsGB and London 2012 to cover news stories in disability sport in the build-up to next year's Games.

Tony Watson, the managing director of the Press Association, said: "We are honoured to be taking on this responsibility.

"As Host National Agency for the London 2012 Paralympic Games we aim to provide unparalleled coverage of this inspiring event, both throughout the Games themselves and in the lead up over the next year.

"As ever, our customers can rely on us to capture all of the results and the news in words, pictures and video, and our strong relationships with British media will help to ensure wide coverage across the UK and beyond."
