Sainsburys_Super_Saturday_logoMay 14 - Music stars Taio Cruz and Chipmunk are to headline a controversial concert to help raise awareness of the London 2012 Paralympics.

They will be joined by The Saturdays in a day-long festival - Sainsbury's Super Saturday - on Clapham Common in South London on September 10.

Paralympic sports will also be demonstrated and people will be able to try some of the different events.

Chipmunk said: "It's going to be a great day out for people of all ages, and a chance to really get behind the London 2012 Paralympic Games."

All profits will go to the Paralympic Legacy Fund, set up to support Paralympic athletes and to promote healthier and more active lifestyles for younger people regardless of ability.

"Sainsbury's Super Saturday is a completely new venture for us but one that we strongly believe will be a huge success," said Justin King, the chief executive of Sainsbury's, a Tier One sponsor of the London 2012 Paralympics.

"Not only does it form part of our ongoing commitment to support the Paralympic Games and promote a more active lifestyle for all in the run up to 2012 and beyond, but it will help raise the profile of the Paralympic Games."

But residents in the area have complained that the concert, which is being organised by Live Nation with support from London 2012 and ParalympicsGB, could damage the Common and lead to anti-social behaviour.

Tickets, priced at £45 ($73) for adults and £35 ($57) for children, go on general sale on May 20 and two days earlier for Nectar Card holders.
