Asian_Games_latest_logo_2November 2 - A 24-hour media centre which will cater for up to 9,000 journalists at the 16th Asian Games has been officially opened by the organisers in Guangzhou, China.

Said to be the largest media centre of any Games, the facilities include a dining area which seats 1,600 people.

More than 2,500 sq m of private office space has been reserved for 22 press organisations and National Olympic Committees taking part in the Games, which begin on Saturday (November 6).

A phalanx of provincial Government officials alongside those from the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee were on hand to cut the ceremonial red ribbon and officially open the media centre, amid much fanfare and a military marching band.

The Asian Games are the second largest sports event in the world after the Summer Olympic Games.
