Engle has previously trained the United States team for regional championships and Paralympic games, as well as leading high performance programmes for national athletes.

He will replace Craig Carscadden, who has been on the technical committee since 2007.

Sean Tweedy has also been appointed to the post of IPC Athletics head of classification.

He is a senior classifier, who has led the classification advisory group since its initiation in 2009.
