dbo_18-07-11July 12 - The 2011 Disabled British Open (DBO) Golf Championship has received sponsorship support from global ISO standard implementation specialists IMSM for the second successive year.

"We are indebted to IMSM for their unwavering commitment to an event which is so valuable to the community it serves," said Andy Barwell, organiser of the third annual DBO, which takes place on August 20-21 at East Sussex National Golf Resort & Spa.

"The company continues to be a massive supporter of the event and will this year be sponsoring all competitors' shirts.

"We are delighted to once again welcome them as a partner to the 2011 DBO."

Andrew Brewerton, marketing director at IMSM, was pleased to be endorsing the event for the second time.

"It's a natural fit for us," he said.

"We recognise the high quality of the tournament, both in its organisation and presence within the media.

"Ensuring high standards is core to our business, and our association with the DBO makes perfect sense."

The 2010 DBO - the first to be played at the current venue - attracted a full field of 72 disabled athletes, with ages ranging from 16-71, from as far afield as South Africa, Pakistan, Spain, Ireland and Germany, in addition to a strong UK contingent.

So popular did the event prove that this year's DBO will also the see the inaugural Junior Disabled British Open for young golfers between the ages of 12 and 18.

The event is delivered through Tourism South East, and is part of Accentuate, a Legacy Trust UK funded programme of 15 projects, inspired by the Paralympic Movement, which seeks to change perceptions and offer opportunities to showcase the talents of deaf and disabled people.

Sue Saville, managing director of Tourism South East said: "The Disabled British Open continues to go from strength to strength, and to see businesses like IMSM supporting the tournament is an indication of the extent of the event's reach and its value to sponsors."
