The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has suspended para powerlifter Mosaab Mohamed Gharsalla for a period of three years for an anti-doping rule violation (ADRV) in breach of the IPC Anti-Doping Code.

The Libyan athlete returned an adverse analytical finding (AAF) for multiple prohibited substances in an in-competition urine sample collected on 29 August 2023 during the Men's -88 kg event at the Dubai 2023 World Para Powerlifting Championships.

The prohibited substances were oxandrolone, drostanolone and trenbolone. The substances are included in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited list for 2023 under class S1.1 (Anabolic Androgenic Steroids). They are non-specified substances under the Code.

The Libyan athlete was provisionally suspended by the IPC on 12 October 2023 pending resolution of his case. Mosaab Mohamed Gharsalla subsequently accepted the ADRV's assignment and the consequences proposed by the IPC.
