Approximately 260 top-tier athletes from 20 countries competed in eight weight classes for both men and women. The opening ceremony, graced by the CISM Official Representative and Board of Directors Member Colonel Nathalie Birgentzlen, co-chairpersons Hyunkook Shin, Mayor of Mungyeong, and Dongyeol Kim, Commander of the Korean Armed Forces Athletic Corps, alongside Army Chief of Staff Ahnsoo Park, delegates from the CISM Member Nations, and around 4,000 Mungyeong citizens and dignitaries, marked a vibrant start to the event.

The ceremony featured an array of pre-event activities, including a captivating Taekwondo demonstration by the Kukkiwon team, an exhilarating high-altitude jump by Special Forces, the grand entrance of athletes, and the formal declaration of the opening. The event concluded with a spectacular celebratory flight by the Black Eagles and performances by the three military honour guards, which thrilled the audience.

Throughout the championship, a variety of engaging programs such as military band performances, honour guard demonstrations, Mungyeong City Nanta performances, and additional Taekwondo demonstrations will entertain both athletes and the public.

Shinhyeon Shin, co-chairman of the 2024 Gyeongbuk Mungyeong World Military Taekwondo Championships organising committee, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Mungyeong is a proven international sports city that successfully hosted the “2015 CISM World Military Summer Games.” We are delighted to host another large-scale international event. We hope for the active participation and interest of our citizens in this Taekwondo-unifying event.”

The first day of competition, held on 1 June at the KAFAC Facilities, which previously hosted the 2015 5th CISM World Summer Games in Wuhan, showcased high-level taekwondo bouts that captivated the audience. The intense competition and display of athletic prowess set the tone for the rest of the championship.

On the day one of the competition Angélique Orozco (women’s 46 kg) of Canada clinched the gold, with South Korea's Jeon Ae Rim securing silver and Uzbekistan's Samira Adashalieva taking bronze. In the women's -49 kg division, Italy's Martina Corelli emerged victorious, followed by Nuray Baurzhanove from Kazakhstan and Zukharakhon Tojimatova from Uzbekistan.

Kazakhstan's Yasmina Narbayeva triumphed in the women's -53 kg class, with Germany's Leonie Johanna Mayer and Uzbekistan's Marjona Primova rounding out the podium. 

In the men's -54 kg category, Dong Wook Lee of South Korea claimed gold, while Yasin Valizadeh from Iran took silver, and both Emircan Onus from Germany and Mohamed Amin Mir from Tunisia earned a bronze medal each.

Iran's Alireza Hosseinpour dominated the men's -58 kg class, with Kazakhstan's Zhavokhirkhon Islamov and Mongolia's Enkhbayar Gantulga, along with South Korea's Choi Won Cheol, securing bronze medals.

In the men's -63 kg category, Lorenzo Capuano of France won gold, Kazakhstan's Amanbol Begimbetov took silver, and Andres Leonardo Ortiz Blanco from Colombia and Amir Abbass Rahnama from Iran both received bronze medals.

On 2 June Uzbekistan's Ulugbek Rashitov clinched the gold medalIn the men's -68 kg category, demonstrating superior technique and agility. Theo Lucien of France earned the silver, while Mouad Fikry from Morocco and Italy's Gabriele Caulo both secured bronze medals.

The men's -74 kg division saw Amir Hossein Beizaei from Iran take the top podium spot. Noh Min Woo from the Republic of Korea claimed the silver medal, much to the delight of the local supporters. The bronze medals went to Lyvestone Celin of France and Badreddine Germiti from Tunisia, both of whom showed great resilience and skill throughout their matches.

Uzbekistan continued its winning streak in the men's -80 kg category, with Jasubek Jaysunov triumphing over his competitors to take home the gold medal. Amir Reza Sadeghiyan from Iran earned the silver medal, while Lee Seung Gu of the Republic of Korea fought valiantly to secure the bronze, adding to the host nation's medal tally.

In the women's events, the -57 kg category witnessed Kazakhstan's Mariya Sevostyanova emerging victorious with the gold medal. Madina Mirabzalova from Uzbekistan showcased her impressive skills to win the silver medal. Canada's Megan Brewster took home the bronze.

The women's -62 kg category was fiercely contested, with Feruza Sadikova from Uzbekistan winning the gold medal. Cristina Gaspa of Italy secured the silver medal. The bronze medals were awarded to Almira Kanat from Kazakhstan and Doucet Guei Teeyah from France.

Vanessa Maria Korndl from Germany claimed the gold medal in the Women's -67 kg category on the final day of the competition. Nuray Khusainova from Kazakhstan secured the silver, while the bronze medals were awarded to Ozoda Sobirjonova of Uzbekistan and Linda Cecchi of Italy.

Gulsanam Alijonova from Uzbekistan emerged victorious in the Women's -73 kg category, taking home the gold medal. Nazym Makhmutova of Kazakhstan earned the silver medal, and Bintou Diakite from France clinched the bronze.

Aleksandra Kowalczuk of Poland dominated the Women's +73 kg category, winning the gold medal. Svetlana Osipova from Uzbekistan received the silver, and Ouassou Mouna from France secured the bronze medal.

Shukhrat Salaev from Uzbekistan triumphed in the Men's -87 kg category, capturing the gold medal. Amir Mohammad Ashrafi of Iran won the silver, with bronze medals going to Ismael Bouzid from France and Jordan Stewart from Canada.

In the Men's +87 kg category, Nikta Rafalovich of Uzbekistan took home the gold medal. Salar Rahmati Moghaddam from Iran earned the silver, while the bronze medals were awarded to Son Sang Won from the Republic of Korea and Omar El Yazidi from France.

Uzbekistan won the team competition with 4 gold medals ahead of Iran and South Korea.
