Organisers of the Paris Olympics have revealed a showcase featuring the five Olympic rings installed on the Eiffel Tower as the French capital commemorates 50 days until the commencement of the Summer Games.

The famed-rings were set to be raised aloft on the icon monument, and that is now the case with them now fully on show to the world. To celebrate the 50-day countdown before the Olympics commence, a steel structure of the five rings, measuring 95 feet in length and 49 feet in height, can be seen embellished on the renowned Paris landmark.

Positioned on the south side, offering a view of the Seine River in central Paris, the rings which have a diameter of 30 feet each, will remain visible throughout the duration of the Summer Games.

The tower, affectionately known as La Dame de Fer (The Iron Lady), will play a significant role in the Paris Games from 26 July to 11 August, as well as in the subsequent Paralympics. Men’s and women’s volleyball matches will take place at the base of the 1,083-foot monument.

Nearly 13,000 spectators will gather at the temporary Eiffel Tower Stadium located on the nearby Champ de Mars to watch the matches. This area is popular among Parisians and tourists for picnics on the grass or viewing the July 14 fireworks displays.

In Paris, Olympic and Paralympic medals are incorporating fragments from a hexagonal piece of iron sourced from the tower. The immensely popular landmark in central Paris has witnessed a surge in visitor numbers ahead of the 2024 Games.

Two huge cranes were used overnight on Friday to lift the 30-tonne rings structure and mount it between the first and second floors of the tower. The Olympic rings will be illuminated every night with 100,000 LED bulbs through the Paralympic Games that start on August 28 – 17 days after the Olympics’ closing ceremony.
