Shi Yuqi beat Anders Antonsen as China won both singles titles at badminton's Indonesia Open on Sunday. Earlier, Olympic champion Chen Yufei defeated world number one An Se-young in the women's final.

Shi got the better of Danish shuttler Antonsen 21-9, 12-21, 21-14 in Jakarta to claim his first BWF World Tour Super 1000 title since 2018. The last Chinese to collect the Indonesia Open men's singles title was Xiong Guobao in 1989.

World number two Shi took 71 minutes to wrap up victory and said afterwards, "I am very happy to have won today. This proves that the efforts of the Chinese men's singles team are very strong right now. This tournament is seen as a practice before the Olympics. I still don't know how far I will go, but I will do my best to become a champion there."

Antonsen's compatriot, world number one and reigning Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen, missed the event due to an ankle injury.

Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Chen Yufei improved her record against world champion An Se-young to 12 wins in 20 meetings as she retained her Indonesia Open title. Having beaten last year's runner-up Carolina Marin in the semi-finals, Chen won 21-14, 14-21, 21-18 in 82 minutes to avenge her defeat to the Korean star in last weekend's Singapore Open final.

Chen commented, "In this match, I didn't focus too much on the outcome but prioritised the process. That was the key to my victory this time." The Indonesia Open was the last Super 1000 tournament before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The next stop on the BWF World Tour is this week's Super 500 Australian Open in Sydney, but the four singles finalists in Jakarta will not be taking part.
