Serbia gets two more taekwondo quotas after reallocation. STEFAN TAKOV'S INSTAGRAM

On 15 June the International Olympic Committee announced the eligible Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN) for Paris 2024 and there were no taekwondo athletes on the list. 

The head coach of the Russian national team, Vadin Ivanov, told RBC that the IOC's decision is final and won't be changed, so there will be no Russian or Belarusian taekwondo athletes at Paris 2024.

According to the IOC, the five quota places won by Russian and Belarusian athletes will be reallocated to athletes from other NOCs in accordance with the World Taekwondo (WT) qualification system.

Four of the five Olympic berths for the individual neutral athletes were won at the European Qualification Tournament held in Sofia, Bulgaria on 9-10 March. 

Georgi Gurtsiev (men's -58 kg) from Belarus, Maksim Khramtsov (men's -80 kg), Tatiana Minina (women's -57 kg) and Polina Khan (women's +67 kg) from Russia reached the final of the tournament. The athletes who lost in the semi-finals will receive an Olympic licence. 

Serbian Lev Korneev (-58 kg) and world runner-up in the 74 kg category Stefan Takov (-80 kg) both reached the semi-finals. Korneev lost to Gurtsiev, while Tankov was beaten by Tokyo 2020 champion Khramtsov. Serbia will now have three Olympic quotas as Aleksandra Perisic (women's -67 kg) qualified through the rankings. 

Dominika Hromova (Czech Republic) will take the place of Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Tatiana Minina in Paris.

Khan defeated Austria's Marlene Jahl in the semi-finals of the qualifying tournament and Austria will now have its only quota in taekwondo. 

The fifth individual neutral athlete, Tokyo 2020 champion Vladislav Larin (men's +80 kg), won his Olympic quota at the WT Grand Slam Champions Series held on 16-17 December 2023 in Wuxi, China. He won the tournament and qualified for Paris 2024. Uzbekistan's Nikita Rafalovich, who was ranked sixth in the Olympic rankings in November, will take the last available quota.
