The competition is organised by World Boxing. It is open to boxers aged 17 and 18. It will take place from 25 October to 5 November at the Pueblo Convention Center in Colorado, USA, and will feature ten weight divisions for both men and women.

It was USA Boxing's proposal that convinced the Executive Committee, among the proposals submitted by the various national federations of World Boxing. It was unanimously approved and the Pueblo Convention Center in Colorado, USA will be the venue for the 2024 U19 World Boxing Championships.

USA Boxing Board Chairman Tyson Lee said, "USA Boxing is honoured to be selected as the host of World Boxing's first World Championships. As a member National Federation of World Boxing, we look forward to hosting the next generation of elite boxers and delivering a high quality competition that puts the boxers first and ensures the integrity of the sport on the field of play."

The competition will feature ten different categories. It will run from 25 October to 5 November 2024. It is aimed at boxers aged 17 and 18 and will be the first ever World Boxing Championships. World Boxing President Boris van der Vorst added, "The staging of our first World Championships is a significant milestone and we are delighted that it will be held in the home of USA Boxing, which has been a steadfast supporter of World Boxing since its inception and has played a vital role in the development and growth of the organisation."

The 2024 U19 World Championships will be the second time USA Boxing has hosted a world boxing competition, following the 'World Boxing Cup: USA Boxing International Invitational', which also took place in Colorado in April 2024.

World Boxing is committed to the establishment of a competition calendar where boxers can develop their careers. It is also seeking recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This will ensure that boxing remains in the Olympic programme. The IOC has repeatedly stated that boxing cannot remain in the Olympic programme without a recognised governing body. To date, this recognition has not been granted and the deadline set by Olympic officials is the end of 2024. World Boxing currently has 29 member national federations.
