There are just nine days to go until the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) 2024 Pan American Championships kick off on 5 July in Rosario, Argentina.

National teams will arrive on 3 July for official weigh-ins and medical clearance. Three days of national, mixed martial arts and striking MMA tournaments will then take place at the city's Club Náutico until 7 July. 

Hosted by GAMMA ARGENTINA, the continental championships will attract senior and junior talent from across North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Participating teams include: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay and the United States. 

The bouts will be fought under GAMMA Amateur Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) rules to ensure safe competition, but will be open to both amateur and professional elite martial arts competitors. The Pan American MMA Youth Championships are open to 16-17 year olds. 

Lucio Gianni, GAMMA Argentina, said in a message to the participating teams, "We are ready in Rosario to welcome you. It means a lot to us Argentinians to have the best athletes from all over the continent in our city and country to see who is really the best in Pan America".

José Rivera, President of the participating Nicaraguan Mixed Martial Arts Commission said, "This June 5th the 1st GAMMA Pan American Championship will begin in Rosario, Argentina. Without a doubt a historic event for the entire continent, it will be the first step in uniting the entire MMA community in the Americas, with representatives from North, Central and South America. 

"This event will mark a before and after for the region, providing a platform for all those future prospects who want to make a name for themselves in a championship where they can compete against the best on the continent," he added. 

GAMMA is the world governing body for MMA, with a vision to develop the amateur and grassroots sport and lead it to formal, international recognition. Led by President Alexander Engelhardt, it provides a global platform for MMA participants through the growth of an inclusive, safe, and well-regulated sport that serves as a positive force worldwide and through the organisation of international amateur competitions.
