The Montenegrin city of Budva will be the venue for the competition, which will take place from 20 October to 6 November 2024. This will be the first time the event has been held in the Adriatic city. It will be the fifth edition to feature both men's and women's boxers together since the merger in 2014 in Sofia, Bulgaria.

For the 2024 edition of the IBA World Youth Boxing Championships, Budva has been chosen as the new host. The Montenegrin city was selected during the meeting of the IBA Governing Board on Friday 21 June 2024.

The competition will take place from 20 October to 6 November 2024 and will be organised by the Montenegro Boxing Federation under the supervision of the International Boxing Association.

This will be the first championship to be held in the Adriatic city as one of the IBA's main world events, after Budva successfully demonstrated its ability to host several European continental competitions.

In particular, the European Women's Boxing Championships will be held at the Mediterranean Sports Centre in 2022, followed by the European Under-22 Boxing Championships the following year. Prior to that, the European Youth Boxing Championships were held back-to-back in Budva in 2020 and 2021, and the city also hosted the World Youth Boxing Championships in March 2023.

This will be the fifth edition of the IBA World Youth Boxing Championships for both male and female boxers. The competition was first combined in 2014 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The 2022 IBA Youth World Boxing Championships in La Nucia, Spain, attracted around 600 male and female boxers.

IBA President Umar Kremlev mentioned that the event is crucial for the next generation of elite boxers. "The names we will hear at the Budva event will soon be known in the world of elite boxing. We already know some success stories from the La Nucia 2022 and Kielce 2021 championships. I am very much looking forward to the highest level of the event in Montenegro".

Montenegro Boxing Federation President Alexander Klemenko said, "Being the organiser of the 2024 IBA World Youth Boxing Championships is a great honour for us. The IBA trusts our federation with these high expectations, and the Montenegrin Boxing Federation will undoubtedly work hard to create an atmosphere of a wonderful and unforgettable sporting event, along with the most comfortable conditions for all athletes and international delegations."

The President expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the preparations for the competition. It will bring together the best young boxers. It will serve as a testing ground that can act as a springboard for young athletes to progress and continue their sporting careers. This month, IBA officials will meet with the Montenegrin Boxing Federation. They will coordinate efforts and conduct the first site visit.

"We have already begun preparations for this remarkable sporting event. We will strive to pleasantly surprise all our guests who come to our beautiful city of Budva," said Klemenko.

These types of championships are often crucial to the development of athletes. By competing against boxers from other countries, they allow each boxer to assess his or her real potential. They are also an evaluation of the capabilities of the countries, the structures and the collective work of the professionals. The youth category is an age where boxers are already highly developed and just one step away from professionalism.
