"We are deeply honoured to once again partner with the City of Fredericton, the Province of New Brunswick, and World Curling to host the 2025 World Mixed Doubles and World Senior Curling Championships," said Local Organising Committee Chair Wayne Tallon.

"Our successful hosting of the event in 2013 showcased the passion and capability of our community, and we are grateful for the confidence that World Curling has placed in us to bring this prestigious event back to Fredericton," he added.

We are delighted to bring the World Mixed Doubles and World Seniors back to Canada for the first time since 2017. This championship will be the last opportunity for our members to earn Olympic points for the Mixed Doubles event at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games. I'm sure that the organising committee in Fredericton will do a fantastic job in hosting such an important event and making sure our athletes have a wonderful experience," said Eeva Roethlisberger, Head of Competitions at World Curling.

20 Mixed Doubles teams from around the world will compete for the World Championship title and Olympic qualifying points on their way to the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games. In total, ten Mixed Doubles teams will compete at the 2026 Olympic Games. Sweden's sibling team of Rasmus and Isabella Wranaa won the gold medal on home ice at the 2024 World Mixed Doubles in Oestersund, Sweden

The Mixed Doubles World Championships were held for the first time in 2008 in Vierumaki, Finland. On the senior side, both the Canadian men's team (skipped by Paul Flemming) and women's team (skipped by Susan Froud) won gold in Oestersund. The World Senior Curling Championship is an open entry event and made its debut in 2002 in Bismarck, USA.
