The International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) stands as the only recognised International Federation for the art and sport of Muaythai within the Olympic Movement and is also the only signatory to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The IFMA has declared that it is the only recognised International Federation for the art and sport of Muaythai within the Olympic Movement and the only signatory to WADA as the only Federation fully compliant with anti-doping regulations.

Furthermore, the IFMA clarifies in a statement that it cannot and will not cooperate with any federation, promoter or organisation of Muaythai that is not part of the Olympic Movement.

In this regard, IFMA's policy is fundamental to ensuring the safety of Muaythai athletes within the IFMA family.

The statement also makes it clear that IFMA will not associate itself with sports organisations outside the Olympic pyramid that promote Muaythai outside the rules and standards established by the Olympic Charter and WADA.

This decision comes from the IFMA Executive Board, which has concluded that no National Federation of IFMA is authorised to work in any capacity with these organisations, particularly the World Boxing Council.

IFMA also acknowledges that the World Boxing Council Muaythai has disseminated inflammatory communications within the Olympic Movement against IFMA and its senior officials, in addition to initiating legal action against prominent IFMA staff.

IFMA views these legal actions as an attack on the IFMA family and will vigorously defend itself against these unfounded allegations. IFMA remains committed to working closely with all stakeholders within the Olympic Committee-recognised movement.

The statement clarifies that the World Boxing Council is not a recognised federation under the Olympic Charter or by the International Olympic Committee.

Its registration in Thailand does not equate to regulatory authority over Muaythai, for which the IFMA is the sole and exclusive international governing body within the Olympic Movement.

Consequently, according to the IFMA, "no national federation of the IFMA will cooperate with these organisations, in particular with the World Boxing Council", as concluded in the statement issued last Thursday.
