WADA issued an important statement on the Cameroonian NADO

The World Anti-Doping Agency's provided an update on the ExCo's decision to endorse the recommendation of the Compliance Review Committee (CRC) to place the Organisation Camerounaise de Lutte contre le Dopage en Sport (OCALUDS or Cameroonian NADO) on the Compliance 'watchlist' of the WADA.

In accordance with the International Standard for Code Compliance by Signatories (ISCCS), by placing the Cameroonian NADO on the watch list, the ExCo gave the Cameroon NADO an four more months to implement its corrective action plan.

The NADO of Cameroon was added to the 'watchlist' because it had failed to address non-conformities in its anti-doping programme as identified through the Code Compliance Questionnaire exercise.

At the end of the watchlist period, several non-conformities were remained unresolved. Therefore, in accordance with Article 9.2.3 of the ISCCS, on 12 July 2024, WADA sent the Cameroon NADO a formal notice of non-compliance on 12 July 2002.

The Cameroonian NADO has 21 days from receipt of the formal notice to contest WADA's allegation of non-compliance and/or the consequences and/or the conditions of reinstatement proposed by the Agency, or to accept the allegation of non-compliance in accordance with Article 9.3.1 of the ISCCS. The decision and its consequences will enter into force on 5 August 2024, unless the decision is challenged by midnight EDT on 2 August 2024.

The purpose of this communication is to provide Signatories with sufficient time to prepare in case the consequences become effective on 5 August 2024. In the meantime, they will not be apllied and WADA will update the Signatories on or around 5 August 2024.  WADA removed last week the Angolan National Olympic Committee from the non-compliant list.

Also on 11 March 2024, the ExCo approved the recommendation of the CRC to add the following five Anti-Doping Organisations (ADOs) to the Compliance 'Watchlist' (in addition to the Cameroon NADO):

-Bahamas NADO.

-Peru NADO.

-Sri Lanka NADO.

-Vietnam NADO.

-World Wheelchair Rugby.

Since then, these Anti-Doping Organisations have taken the necessary steps to complete the relevant corrective actions requested by WADA, and they have all been removed from the 'watchlist'.
