Taekwondo athletes chosen as Jordan’s flag bearers at the Paris 2024 Olympics. JOC

The Jordanian Olympic Committee (JOC) has selected the taekwondo athletes, Saleh Elsharabaty and Rama Abu Al-Rub, to bear the Jordanian flag at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will officially be held on July 26.

Elsharabaty qualified for the Olympic Games after coming fifth in the world rankings in the -80 kg weight category.

Elsharabaty is looking forward to being the first Jordanian athlete to win two medals in the Olympic Games, as he won the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. 

Al-Rub qualified for the + 67 kg weight class through the Asian qualifiers that took place in the Chinese city of Tai'an in March 2024.

Al-Rub previously qualified for the Youth Olympic Games, which were hosted by the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, in 2018.

Besides Elsharabaty and Al-Rub, another Taekwondo athlete, Zaid Mustapha will represent Jordan at Paris 2024. Jordan will have 12 athletes at the Olympic Games.
