Three new additions to the World Rowing Awards. WORLD ROWING

Alongside the annual Betis-Seville Regatta (the two renowned football clubs), the Region of Andalusia and the city of Seville, Spain, will host the next three editions of the annual World Rowing Awards, Insidethegames revealed last March.

Exceptional talent will be honoured and rewarded live on stage in a festive evening environment in an iconic location in the city centre of Seville, recognising the best figures of a year with the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games as the most important competition of the year.

The 2024 World Rowing Awards ceremony, set to be held on Saturday 9 November 2024, will see the introduction of three new awards to join the traditional ones that were present at last year's edition.

The new additions are:

-The 'Rowing Destination of the Year' Award, which will recognise the world's most influential rowing destinations that provide exemplary rowing conditions and actively promote and support the sport through events, community engagement, and cultural integration.

-The 'Rowing Programme of the Year' Award, to underline World Rowing's commitment to expanding the international rowing community, increasing the involvement of clubs, schools and universities and highlighting their vital role in the development of the sport.

-The 'Artistic Contribution of the Year' Award, highlighting the intersection of athleticism and creativity, celebrating works that may include visual art, music, literature, still or moving images, or any other artistic medium that reflects the spirit and beauty of rowing.

Nominations for these three new awards will open on Saturday, 17 August. In addition, and in recognition of the growth of the coastal and indoor rowing disciplines, the nomination and selection panels for the existing World Rowing Awards will be modified.

The 'Men's Crew of the Year', 'Women's Crew of the Year', 'Para Crew of the Year' and 'Coach of the Year' awards will have increased  representation. The 'Distinguished Services to International Rowing Award' and the "Thomas Keller Medal Award" will remain unchanged. Nominations for these awards will open on Tuesday 17 September.
