The 2022 Asian Taekwondo Championships silver medallist and 2022 Junior World Champion Mobina Nematzadeh booked her place at the 2023 Olympic Games in March by reaching the final of the Asian Qualifiers. The rising star from Iran will face stiff competition in Paris, but is determined to win gold.

“I want to compete in Paris in my best condition, physically and mentally. Indeed, I am determined to win a gold medal in Paris,” Nematzadeh told the Tehran Times.

“I am looking forward to doing my best in the Olympics and I know my four opponents and analysed them. I have worked hard during the past months, but with my family by my side and the support of the federation made it easier for me,” she added.

The 19-year-old is certain that Paris 2024 will not be her last Olympic Games. “I am going to participate in the next Olympics but I will definitely change my weight class,” Nematzadeh concluded.

The taekwondo events at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are set to take place from August 7 to 10 at the Grand Palais.

A total of 128 taekwondo athletes, equally divided between men and women, will compete across eight weight categories (four for each gender). This format continues the tradition established since the Beijing 2008 Games.
