The United States claimed gold in the women's team foil after winning 45 points to Italy's 39 points to take silver in one of the qualifying rounds played in a 66-minute marathon this afternoon.

Today, on Thursday, in the Grand Palais, Lee Kiefer won her second gold medal of the Games, along with Lauren Scrubbs, Jacquelin Dubrovich and Maia Mei Weintraub. Its the first ever USA's gold in Women's Team Foil and Lee Kiefer is the first USA's fencer to win three Olympic gold medals at the same event.

The other encounter was played earlier between Canada and Japan. The Japanese team won by just one point, 33 to 32, taking bronze in the final standings.


In the morning, the 8-team draw was played, with the United States beating Italy, Canada and China, while Italy had beaten Egypt and Japan, who in turn had beaten Poland in the quarter-finals.

Before Women's Championships, on Wednesday, the Republic of South Korea won its third consecutive gold medal in the men's sabre team competition. The South Korea's team beat Hungary 41-45 in the final encounter held at the Paris 2024 fencing venue at the Grand Palais.

South Korea stood out from the start against the bronze medallists in Tokyo. 

12 gold-medal events in epee, foil and sabre individual and team competitions are being held from July 27 to August 4 at the Grand Palais.
