The Netherlands and Germany surpassed the semi-finals in lawn hockey on Tuesday, overcoming Spain and India respectively.

With a goal in each quarter, the Netherlands defeated Spain 4–0 and took one more step towards an Olympic gold winning the hockey semifinals at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium in Colombes. Spain's Bruno Font suffered a muscle injury hours before the start of the game ruling him out from playing.

Although they have not won the Gold, Spain has reached its first Olympic semi-final in this sport in 16 years. Now they will go head-to-head for the bronze medal.

Fans were enthusiasts of Captain Thierry Brinkman and accompanied his team from the Netherlands, where grass hockey is very popular. Women are also qualified and will compete in the semi-finals this Wednesday against Argentina.

If we take into account the results of Tuesday, the Netherlands is very well positioned, as their victory was 4-0, while the German margin was smaller: it beat India 3-2.

From Germany, Gonzalo Peillat, Christopher Ruehr and Marco Miltkau scored as much; and in India were players Harmanpreet Singh and Sukhjett Singh. While the first quarter highlighted India, Germany soon topped the other quarters.

Women on Wednesday

The final between Germany and the Netherlands will be played on Thursday at 2 p.m. and will be preceded by the bronze medal match between the losers of both, Spain, led by the Argentine Max Caldas, and India.

On Wednesday, the Argentine Leones will face the Netherlands in the semi-finals, a shock they face with a hunger for revenge against the team they fell within the last five Olympic dates. It will be an anticipated 'final' between the current world and Olympic champions, which are the Dutch, against the current sub-champions in both tournaments, the Argentine, which in turn are the first two teams in the world ranking.

It was precisely the Dutch women who deprived Argentina of glory in the final of Tokyo 2020 (3-1). Five years earlier, in Rio - the only of the last six Olympic events in which the Argentines did not play metal - the Netherlands was once again on its way to the quarterfinals (3-2).

The 'Orange' had already erected itself as an Argentine winner in women's lawn hockey by winning the final in the British capital in 2012, four years after being their winner in the semi-finals in Beijing-2008, and eight after being in the same round in Athens.
