India gets bronze

In addition to this, there was also Spain's match against India for the bronze medal, which they finally won 2-1. Spain is the team with the most medals in this discipline without having a gold medal, with 3 beach medals and one bronze medal. On the other hand, India is a titan in this category, being the team with the most medals in the history of the Olympic Games, with eight gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

Both teams were looking to win a medal after a long time without standing on the podium of Hockey (India since 1980 and Spain since 2008). The match started very evenly, with neither side being able to lead the scoreboard, ending the first half with a 0-0 score.

However, in the second half, the Spanish Redsticks team prevailed with a goal in the 18th minute, giving them a momentary advantage, as the Indians reacted and were able to score in the 30th minute.

Thus, the second half ended (1-1). Their captain Harmanpreet Singh scored a second penalty corner at the start of the third quarter, which proved decisive.

The Indian team maintained their good momentum and scored at the start of the third half another goal, causing Spain to be unable to recover and end the third and fourth half (1-2) and (1-2). In this way, India came from behind to beat Spain and return to the podium since their last gold medal in Moscow.

India, who lead the Olympic medal tally with 14 medals and eight golds, are repeating their bronze from Tokyo 2020, when they returned to the podium four decades later.

Spain, ranked eighth in the world, went from strength to strength in the tournament, with a discreet first phase that ended with two wins (Germany and South Africa), a draw (France) and two defeats (Great Britain and the Netherlands).
