Japan capped off a successful wrestling campaign on 11 August, securing two more gold medals at the Champ-de-Mars Arena. These victories highlighted the nation's dominance in the sport, concluding the tournament with a strong performance that solidified Japan's reputation as a wrestling powerhouse.

Japanese wrestlers won 6 gold medals during the first five days of the competition. On the final day, they had two finalists and both came out victorious.

In the men's freestyle wrestling -65 kg category, Kotaro Kiyooka faced 2022 World Champion Iran's Rahman Amouzadkhalili. He scored first with a step out, but Kiyooka took his opponent down at the end of the first round and scored eight more points with a leg tie.

Amouzakhalili was saved by the clock and scored two more points in the second round, but Kiyooka maintained his seven-point advantage to win the Olympic title.

Albania's Islam Dudaev, the 2024 European champion, defeated 2023 World champion Iszmail Muszukajev of Hungary 13-12 in a tight battle to win the bronze medal. The 2023 World silver medallist Sebastian Rivera won the third place bout against Mongolia's Tulga Timur Ochir by one point (10-9) to claim the second bronze medal.

Reigning world champion Yuka Kagami defeated USA's Kennedy Blades in the women's -76kg final.

Kagami scored a decisive step out midway through the second round when Blades was leading 1-1 on criteria. She added another point to take a 3-1 lead and the Olympic title. It was Japan's fourth gold medal in women's wrestling. The bronze medals went to Cuba's Milaimy Marin and Colombia's Tatiana Renteria.

The final event of the men's freestyle wrestling featured the reigning world champion, 21-year-old Akhmed Tazhudinov, representing Bahrain, he was up against Givi Matcharashvili from Georgia.

Midway through the first round, the Georgian locked Tazhudinov's arm and tried to throw his opponent, but Tazhudinov freed his arm and counter-attacked, getting on top and pinning Matcharashvili. A victory by "touche" and the first gold medal for Tazhudinov.

Iran's Amirali Azarpira defeated Rio 2016 champion Kyle Snyder to take bronze. The other bronze went to Magomedkhan Magomedov of Azerbaijan.
