Countdown clock unveiled in Chengdu amid World Games 2025. IWGA

On 7 August in a grand celebration marking exactly one year until The World Games 2025 Chengdu, a countdown clock was unveiled at Taikoo Li, one of Chengdu’s most iconic locations.

The clock, provided by the International World Games Association (IWGA) partner Tissot, stands 2.5 metres tall and serves as a striking symbol of the city's anticipation for the global event.

At the unveiling, IWGA President José Perurena expressed his excitement for the upcoming Games and praised Tissot for their unwavering support.

"This countdown clock not only marks the time until we welcome the world to Chengdu but also stands as a testament to the incredible long-term partnership we have with Tissot. Their commitment to excellence and innovation is perfectly reflected in this stunning timepiece," Perurena said.

After the unveiling an announcement was made about the World Games Association and the Chengdu 2025 Local Organising Committee’s partnership with the Chinese sports and lifestyle company Xtep for the 12th edition of The World Games 2025.

This partnership marks Xtep as the first global partner in the apparel category for TWG 2025. Under this partnership, Xtep will provide uniforms for officials, staff of the IWGA, the LOC, volunteers, and other select guests at The World Games 2025 and The World Games Series.

IWGA President José Perurena commented, "The IWGA is delighted that the Chengdu 2025 LOC has announced this new partnership with China’s leading sport clothing manufacturer, Xtep. Our organisations share a common vision of supporting sport and athletes and actively contributing to their performance at The World Games."

Meanwhile Hong Kong prepares to host the inaugural leg of The World Games Series (TWG Series) from 11-13 October 2024.

A total of 88 elite athletes (44 men and 44 women) are set to compete in Hong Kong, each vying for coveted qualification spots for The World Games 2025 in Chengdu from 7-17 August.

The competitions will take place at the state-of-the-art Hong Kong Sport Park Sai Sha, where athletes will showcase their skills and determination in front of an eager audience.

"We are thrilled to bring The World Games Series to Hong Kong and to witness the overwhelming support from the local media and community," said IWGA President José Perurena.

"The enthusiasm shown by everyone involved, from athletes to officials from National and International Federations to the press, highlights the significance of this event and its potential to inspire future generations of sports enthusiasts," concluded the IWGA President.

Among the highlights of the competition, athletes will compete for qualification in the following categories: Cheerleading Pom Doubles, Roller Inline Freestyle Slalom Classic, Roller Inline Freestyle Slalom Freestyle and Wushu Taolu.
