The Italian Trap Shooting Delegation, led by skilled Veniero Spada, shone brightly at the Compak World Cup held in Hungary. The crown jewel of non-Olympic shooting sports disciplines, became the perfect stage for the resurgence of the Spada family, who took several team and individual trophies.

Veniero Spada proved that age is just a number, not only as a strategist but also as a competitor, by being crowned world champion in the veterans category. With an almost perfect score of 193/200, Spada easily outclassed his rivals, pushing the talented Giovanni Provenzale to second place with 188 points, while British shooter Glenn Hunt claimed bronze with a score of 186.

But the Spada saga doesn’t end there. Katiuscia, the coach's daughter, showed that talent runs deep in the family by winning the world title in the women's individual category. With pinpoint accuracy and enviable composure, the Italian athlete scored 189/200, outpacing over seventy elite competitors, including France's Clarisse Hatem and Sweden's Rebecka Bergkvist, who finished in second and third place, respectively.

Katiuscia's success was not limited to the individual level. Together with her compatriots Carla Flammini and Veronica Bertoli, she formed an unbeatable team that dominated the team competition. With an astonishing score of 550/600, the Italian trio left their competitors far behind, outscoring Great Britain by 15 targets and Sweden by 30, cementing their absolute dominance.

In the men's category, history repeated itself with an Italian team that proved to be unbeatable. Marco Battisti, Davide Gasparini, and Michael Spada (Veniero’s son) combined their skills to reach a score of 586/600, surpassing Hungary by just one target and leaving Great Britain in third place. However, the individual absolute title went to Hungarian shooter Tamas Jeri, who scored 198/200.

The Italian veterans' team also left its golden mark. With a formidable performance, Mauro Bosi, Marco Greco, and Alessandro Gaetani claimed gold in the Senior category team competition, edging out Great Britain by a narrow margin of one target, while Greece completed the podium.

In essence, the Italian participation in the Compak World Championship was not only successful but also reaffirmed the Spada family’s dominance on the international trap shooting stage. With a blend of experience, youth, and an unwavering passion for the sport, Italy solidified its position as the powerhouse to beat in future competitions.
